PEACE RING Project

August 6, 2019 by Steve Groenier

-Spreading World Peace Through Beads-

TOHO Beads is excited to share the newest international beading project that aims to connect people all over the world through beading! The PEACE RING project begins today which is Peace Anniversary Day in Hiroshima, Japan, and the event period will end on August 6, 2020. After the year long project, we will count the number of hashtags (#TOHOPeaceRing) on Instagram and make a donation toward benefits for world peace.

On August 6, 2020 for every 1 project using hashtag (#TOHOPeaceRing) shared to Instagram, TOHO will donate 1 JPY. Donations will be made to Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation.

TOHO recommends that participants use Aiko Cylinder Seed Beads, but understands that Aiko are not always available everywhere. Participants can also use Treasure Beads or TOHO Round Seed Beads. Only 1 gram of beads are needed to make one ring! However, we hope to see designers and artists try bigger projects like bracelets, looming necklaces, etc.

An Instagram account is not required to participate. You can still participate in the PEACE RING Project and share your project on any social media platform of your choosing! Post to Facebook, your blog, Twitter, etc.! Please note that Instagram is the main platform we’ll use to count hashtags toward donations.

For full participation details please view the following material and direct any questions or concerns regarding the PEACE RING project by email at: bstyle-galleryt@toho-beads.co.jp and include “PEACE RING” in the subject line. Please click on the images to download PDF files for the Peace Ring poster as well as the project instructions below or watch a tutorial here.

Check out a variety of examples below for how to create and participate in the PEACE RING project yourself. You can make rings and even bracelets!

For participants interested in making kits to sell, please be sure to include the Peace Ring logo (to save the logo, right click and choose “Save image as”):

The PEACE RING Project has been released on other TOHO pages that you’ll find here:

  • TOHO Beads Facebook
  • TOHO Beads Instagram

We truly hope that this helps to connect and strengthen the bond among beaders all around the world to aim for a more peaceful world for everyone. We can’t wait to see your PEACE RINGS!
